April går så altfor fort - April Passes too Fast

April passes just too fast. So what have I been doing? I weave table runners with Spanish lace, something several customers asked for at the Christmas markets. The warp is black, the weft is lilac, purple, blue or simply black.

I've made a new wrist warmer type, a kind of half gloves. Now I have four kind of felted garments with crocheted stars: wrist warmers, half gloves, scarves and jackets. I called the series Stella borealis, which means Northern star. I've also made to jackets and one dress, plus a lizard dress - all customers orders.
At the end of February I had applied for membership as crafter in the Norwegian crafts society. On friday I got the happy message that I was accepted.

Årets første hestehov kom i hus for to dager siden! Men vi har flere farger her oppe i april:
I participate in Sue's challenge to find the colors of April around the world. Many blogs show lovely spring flowers- we don't have that yet. The first tussilago was found on thursday! But we have more colors here:
Nydelige isstrukturer i hvitt. Lovely white ice structures.
Gult lav... Yellow lichens...

oransje, orange

and light grey. The next two weeks I'm going to spend in the Western part of Norway in a firm called Skyttel vev, well known for its high quality woven textiles - I'm looking very much forward to this!

  1. Oh Charlotte, Congratulations! You must be thrilled. The table runners look wonderful with the spanish lace. It is such an eye catching structure. Congrats on all the custom orders too.
Okay, your colors are still much whiter than mine so I shouldn't complain at all. The lichens are beautiful and that lake picture with snow and mountains, so serene.
    Have fun on your trip!

  4. Congratulations on your acceptance! I really wish that in the US we had craft (specifically weaving) institutes like they have in Europe.

  5. Your visit to the Norwegian Crafts Society should be really interesting, try and take lots of photos for us because nothing like that exists in Canada! I love the runner and the touch of Spanish lace is stunning. I too have been making the fingerless gloves, such a great accessory for those cool mornings.

  10. Charlotte, congratulations! How exciting. I love your wrist warmers and all the colors of lichen you have. Colors of April is so much fun, because it gives everyone a glimpse of what spring is doing (or not doing) in other parts of the world.

  12. Interesting Spanish lace. I just took part 1 of a lace class, and the examples we saw in class were much finer thread for Spanish Lace. I really like the way you're weaving it!!

Love the fingerless gloves!! I've used my pair a bit and they really will come into their own next winter I'm sure!

Congrats on becoming part of the Norwegian Crafts Society!!

Thanks for sharing your April colors, and reminding us that spring hasn't sprung everywhere yet. Great idea to find different colors of lichen. We have those colors here too....although the orange isn't very common.

Enjoy your two weeks away. (And hopefully we'll get to enjoy your photos when you return!!)

  14. Hej Charlotte!
