Now I have completely finished seven out of ten Spanish lace shawls. I wove two with each weft color: two with dark blue, two with a lighter blue, two with dark yellow, two with dark olive green and two with lavender weft.
The shawls look good when draped around the shoulders, and I think they go well with a pretty dress.
It has been raining for several days, so I had to shoot the pictures indoors. I put a chair on the dining table close to a large window and tried to get a little daylight on the fabric.
But I have to admit that I am quite fed up doing fringes!
Luckily I had the opportunity to buy a Leclerc fringe twister from the weaving store at the Norwegian folk museum in Oslo. It has saved quite some time and my fingers! I won't show how it is used, since Susan and Margreet have done this in a very thorough and pedagogical manner.
This is another very handy little tool: it is a kind of scissors used in the textile industry to cut off loose ends. It is quite heavy, and it enables me to cut very close to the fabric.

All are just lovely! I can only imagine how sick of fringe you are. The twister is a handy tool, but it's still fringe and finishing it has always been my least favorite thing about weaving. Hope your rain gives way to sunshine soon.
SvarSlettThe shawls are beautiful!! They do look very nice with a pretty dress!
SvarSlettI think I need to get a fringe twister. I often try to avoid fringe, but for some pieces it really is the best finish. I can't imagine twisting fringe for 7 shawls without one. OK, it's on my shopping list!
Interesting scissors. I've never seen that type. I just bought special scissors that have a curved tip so that I can cut close to the fabric without cutting the fabric....must be the same idea!
Beautiful job on the shawls! Congrats on finishing 7!! That's a lot!
Hope you see the sun soon! We've had something like 2 weeks with no rain at all. Sending some of our sun your way!!

SvarSlettAhhhh Charlotte - you are amazing. Seven shawls, and I'm struggling to finish one scarf this week! You must have really enjoyed weaving them, I know that helps keep you at the loom. It's really lovely to see Spanish Lace featured in a shawl, it's wonderfully effective in making them look light and airy.
SvarSlettHej Charlotte!

Ten shawls!!! I can understand why your fingers are sick of the tassels! Wow - they are so beautiful!
SvarSlettNydelige sjal.
SvarSlettWow! Jeg er så imponert. Virkelig lekre sjal! Helt nydelig.
SvarSlettTakk for hyggelig kommentar i bloggen min.
SvarSlettSå produktiv du er! Og for noen fantastisk flotte sjal du vever! Imponert :-)
Charlotte, lovely scarves and the tutorial on the Spanish lace was very good last month. Thanks for sharing this. Seeing it now in the different coloured scarves is beautifull. Lovely colours!

Love the Spanish lace! Very elegant shawls.
SvarSlettFringe twisters are worth their weight in gold. Mine is getting a good workout right now too.
